Meet the Labour Party Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Popularly called GRV.
Son of Barrister Olawale and Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour. And the grandson of the late Judge Akinwunmi Rhodes-Vivour.
He is the great-grandson of Steven Bankole, the second-ever indigenous judge appointed in Nigeria.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is undoubtedly from a family of lawyers.
Born and raised in Ikeja, a balanced Lagosian. His primary and secondary school education was at Chrisland primary schools up to a point. Before he went on to Paris in France to finish up at Ecol Arrive Berlin.
He is married to an Igbo woman, Ifeyinwa Rhodes-Vivour (Ph.D.). She is the daughter of the former military administrator to Kogi and Borno states, Augustine Aniebo. And a molecular geneticist by profession.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has been into building all the while. Having worked with Franklin Ellis Architects in the UK. Then SISA, and Cliff Consulting, in Nigeria, before venturing fully into politics.
In 2017, he alongside Nnimmo Bassey led a 2,000-man march to the Senate. Lending a voice in the fight against environmental degradation. He also campaigns for the inclusion of history as a subject in the Nigerian school curriculum.
In 2022, Rhodes-Vivour collaborated with WellaHealth to provide free health checks and insurance. For 1 million people in Lagos who have their Voter’s card, in commemoration of World Malaria Day and to encourage people to get their Voter’s card to enable them to vote in elections.
The 39-year-old is the Labour party gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election.
Predictably, the majority of the votes will be shared between the current Lagos state governor, Sanwo Olu, who is the APC candidate, and the Labour Party candidate, Rhodes Vivour.
