Lagos Fashion Week will present the fifth edition of Woven Threads from April 12th to April 14th. This season’s showcase, themed “Commune”, goes beyond the runway, shining a light on the individuals and communities that contribute to the artistry.

Sustainability is often viewed through the pillars of economic, environmental and social development with culture taking a back seat. This season “Commune” takes an exploratory dive into the work of creatives on the scene through the African cultural lens of Community, the starting point of our creative process.
At the heart of Woven Threads is celebrating the ingenuity and resilience of African fashion designers while emphasising the importance of sustainability and waste reduction in the industry. The exhibition brings together a diverse range of designers, experts, and stakeholders to discuss and showcase the best practices in African fashion design. Participating designers include: Green Access 2023 Cohort – Ajanée, By.Wuzzy, Dust of the Earth, Bornstarng, E.S.O by Liman, This Is Us, Kilentar, Lohije, Y’wandeLag, Eki Kere, and more.

Woven Threads V will feature:
  1. Physical Presentations: Inspired by the successful AW18 showcase, designers will unveil their collections in an intimate, salon-style setting. Following each presentation, a ‘see now, buy now’ client-designer reception allows immediate purchase or order opportunities.
  2. The Woven Threads Installation: This interactive installation will offer a deeper understanding of the “Commune” theme, highlighting the collaborative process and celebrating the unsung heroes of fashion.
  3. Digital Presentations: Extending the reach beyond the physical event, Woven Threads V will also feature digital presentations, ensuring wider accessibility and audience engagement.

In the lead-up to Woven Threads V, Lagos Fashion Week will proudly support the State of Fashion’s 2024 Bienalle’s Nairobi activation curated by Sunny Dolat and scheduled for April 3rd to April 15th.
It will feature enlightening panel discussions and the premiere of a fashion film, offering attendees a unique insight into Sunny Dolat’s visual storytelling experience.

Global music sensation Burna Boy achieves yet another milestone as his groundbreaking album, “African Giant,” takes its place at number 330 on Rolling Stone ‘s prestigious ‘ The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time‘ list.

Renowned for his Afro-fusion sound, Burna Boy has consistently pushed the boundaries of music, fusing hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, and Nigerian music to create a genre-defying experience. “African Giant” showcases his dynamic artistry, featuring collaborations with Angelique Kidjo, Future, Serani, and Nigeria’s Kel-P, who played a pivotal role in producing much of the album.

    Rolling Stone

In a statement, Burna Boy emphasized his desire not to be boxed in, leading to the creation of Afrofusion. The album’s sinuous, introspective, and pointed tracks address self-enriching politicians and the history of British imperialism in Nigeria. Burna Boy’s lyrics, primarily in Pidgin, Yoruba, and Igbo, resonate with audiences globally.

Rolling Stone ‘s recognition of “African Giant” on their ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time‘ list underscores Burna Boy’s influence and impact on the international music scene. The album’s ranking at number 330 highlights its enduring significance and contribution to the rich tapestry of global musical achievements.

Unlike other seasons of the BBNaija, theAll stars BBnaija season came different.

The normal eviction system for the most anticipated All stars BBnaija show has always been up to the viewers and contestants only.

Where the contestants by several reasons make themselves eligible for staying or being evicted.

Furthermore it is followed by voting by the viewers, for their favorite contestant.

Not only is this system transparent, it also left the competition  to the viewers too.

Well, the All stars BBnaija show season introduced a new system. Where former housemates will have a say on who stays and who is evicted.

The system says that only  housemates with the lowest votes will be brought to the Jury system.

The viewers had nothing to say at first because the contestants were also past housemates.

But it seemed as though this new system wasn’t as transparent. And it has brought back lash.

Honestly? It was expected. These housemates always had an issue with each other even outside the house. So partiality was expected.

The All stars Jury members are Mike, Saskay, Bisola, Dorathy, Elozonam and Vee.

    Who are all former housemates

Fans took to social media to express their concerns, and the show’s team had to discontinue it. In order to give a better bond between the audience and the contestants.
