]]>The film promised a sequel in 2022 but tragedy struck. With Chadwick Boseman’s tragic demise in 2020, grief and loss joined forces to hamper the progress of the sequel. In May, 2021, MCU revealed that the sequel Black Panther 2 would be titled “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”– of course, the show must go on.
Wakanda Forever was first slated to be released in May 2022 but because of some delays, it is scheduled to hit cinemas in November 2022. The stage is set and the entire team is working hard to promote the legacy that King T’Challa has created. In the trailer, we can get a hint of where the storyline is headed.
From the trailer, it is obvious that Black Panther is a serious African affair, bringing Africa to the world. The music also features the song presented by three African talents: Tems, Amaare, and Santa Fe Klan. The trailer begins with a remake of “No Woman, No Cry” sang with the reverberating voice of Tems, a fast-rising Nigerian Music artist. The song is a remake of the version originally sung by Bob Marley and the Wailers.
The song immediately transports viewers and listeners to a world between the past and the present as it echoes emotionally from the beginning of the trailer. Tems’ song also opens up the imagination of the listener to capture the strength of women and the power and possibilities that lie within Africa.
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios stated in December 2020 that they would not recast the king T’Challa’s role in the sequel. It is strange to think of a Black Panther movie without the Panther himself. King T’Challa will be missed so much in the new film. Information from Marvel Studio’s official synopsis reveals that Wakanda Forever will focus on the nation discovering its roots and protecting itself against rival nations following King T’Challa’s death. This is a big shift of focus from the King of Wakanda to the nation itself.
It is hard to predict exactly what the full story will be. However, Marvel Studios have assured viewers that the movie will live up to expectations. There are a lot of original ideas in the movie
Although the king will be missed, we still have a lot of familiar faces. Danai Gurira returns as Okoye and Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia. Letitia Wight still features as Shuri while Florence Kasumba comes back as Ayo. The list goes on.
Some of the new exciting characters include Riri Williams (Ironheart) – a role played by Dominique Thorne. Tenoch Huerta plays the role of Namor (King of Atlantis).
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a much-anticipated movie. The excitement is mounting and we hope that the movie comes as a big hit in theatres by November 2022. Everyone who is hoping to be wowed again by the Black Panther movie has jut one thing to do – anticipate!
