They creep on you like horror, cringe your little spirit and you think it’s only in your subconscious. Yes, only in your subconscious you say in a weak trial to pacify yourself of the underlying truth you deter telling yourself.
They lurk in the shadows gawking at you, fleeting thoughts, they come as they go. How can your feeble mind crack such a tasteless joke on you. You examine your eyes in the mirror, bulging it almost out of the socket.
The pupils were still black. The random hollow voice says it’s green but the triangular wooden mirror convince you it’s black, so you flipped your weave and walked away.
You feigned happiness and blab congratulations from the other end of the line, oblivious to the green eye monster that haunts you. You are not delusional you thought, you just wished the caller to already drop dead. Whatever, you wish you had been hallucinating. Oh! What an idle thought from a mundane mind. Where is your purse again, you had to get out of your room that seemed prosaic, you reached for the purse at the edge of the bed and clutched it, before you stepped out of the room a shadow stared at you from the mirror and this time, that shadow was green eyed.
You thought the universe conspired against you else why is the damn center not holding. You entered into a conflict with the reflection in the mirror because you need to vent. Y let it all out and felt the filling of that hole in your heart.
Eventually, there was a filling but peace eluded you. You were still at war with the universe. The partial universe, small sounds escape your lips then those sounds turned to laughter and the laughter became hysterical.
You called a truce between you and the universe thought you knew you wouldn’t go down without a fight. These little foxes won’t let you thrive, then you started acknowledging them. You tried letting go of the monsters that tried making an abode of you. You knew they will destroy you if you let them so released them, they ought to go. You realized that the universe was never a party to your dilemma. It’s these monsters lurking in the dark, with realization came peace because you know you will thrive.
