The story of a Tribe called Judah takes us in a unique Nigerian family’s life. Comedy and suspense blend seamlessly in Jedidah’s journey as a single mother of Emeka, Adamu, Pere, Shina, and Ejiro.

Emeka, son of Kalu, moved to the States after birth. Adamu’s father, a security guard, couldn’t marry Jedidah due to religious differences. Shina’s father, a hoodlum, and Ejiro’s birth a bar romance story.

Jedidah’s five encounters with men shaped her sons’ unique traits. The first two were well-adjusted, but the last three became a challenge. Pere is a pickpocket, Shina a thug, and Ejiro a community nuisance.

Despite the kids’ bottleneck characters, Jedidah did her best for her sons. Amid their melodramatic lives, Jedidah’s chronic Kidney disease surfaced, requiring over 18 million for the operation. The Tribe called Judah, Jedidah’s first son’s clique, planned to steal from Emeka’s boss, known for money laundering. Will their plan go unnoticed, or will there be consequences?

The movie’s characters, portrayed by a wide Nollywood cast, communicate the unified family of the Judah tribe. Siblings include Emeka (Jide Kene Achufusi), Adamu (Uzee Usman), Shina (Tobi Makinde), Pere (Timini Egbuson), and Ejiro (Olumide Oworu). Uzor Arukwe, as the antagonist Chidokie, adds humor and genuineness to Emeka’s boss role.

In the last three years, Funke Akindele set records with movies like ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga’ (2020) and ‘Battle on the Buka Street’ (2022), earning over ₦636 million and ₦668 million at the box office, respectively. ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ her latest Christmas film, earned an impressive N122 million at the box office in less than two weeks and is currently at a 400 million naira earning. Check out this movie at the cinema soon.
