If you’ve been on social media recently, chances are you’ve seen this drink with milk and ice filling the glass and a swoosh of frothy and fluffy looking coffee perched on it . Basically a reverse latte with ice.
Dalgona coffee, otherwise known as whipped coffee, is one of the latest social media trends (we’ve had so many of this these, thanks to quarantine). Unlike regular coffee, Dalgona coffee stands out because of it’s creamy top – made by whipping coffee, sugar and hot water which results in a fluffy light brown foam that is then spooned over milk.
It is aesthetically pleasing to look at and easy to whip up.
How to make dalgona whipped coffee:
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of hot water. Procedure: Pour all of the ingredients into a bowl and whisk with either an electric mixer or a hand whisk until the mixture is “thick and creamy”. Once you’ve achieved the desired fluffiness, pour milk into a cup with ice and top with the coffee foam.
The trend which started earlier this year when South Korean actor Jung Il-woo made it on TV has over a million people whipping.
