Davido is here with another album: A Better Time. A Better Time was one of those special albums where you know someone important, has come into the artist’s life. For this album, it seems like the important person is, Ifeanyi, Davido’s son. Ifeanyi was used on the album’s cover. This article isn’t to tell about who the album is dedicated to or not, but to outline the top 5 songs on the album you should listen to. In no particular order let’s begin.
1) Very Special
This is one song that from the first beat, you know it is going to good. To crown it all it has the Mayor of Lagos, Mayorkun on back-up. We know we can always trust Mayorkun to add flavor to a song.
2) Holy Ground
Barbs align! There’s a lot of barbs(Nicki Minaj fans) that love Davido so this is significant music. In Queen Nicki’s voice, “The Queen to the Motherland.” A feature with Nicki Minaj was overdue and we had it.
3) Fem
Before Davido released this album, he teases us with this song, FEM. FEM was the national anthem for many reasons. People loved it and are still loving it. So it’s Fem.
4) I’ve got a friend
This is such a jam because it pays tribute to Davido’s “friends” both living and dead. Some of the people he pays tribute to would make you mushy. Besides, it features Sho Madjozi and Mayorkun who as usual made it dope with their lively verses.
5) Jowo
This is sort of different from what you would expect from Davido but it is what you would expect from him. Davido sang for most parts of this album, and with Jowo, it’s like he sang from the soul. If you want to fall in love or maybe cry from heartbreak, this song especially the chorus would do it for you. In Davido’s voice, “cheee!!”
This album features great artists from Mayorkun, Nas, Shomadjozi, Hit-boy, C-Kay, Chris brown to Young Thug, amongst others. It is one to listen to. Be the judge of what you really like by listening to the album and let us know what we should have added to the list.
