VeryDarkMan, the popular social media critic and activist, has revealed that hackers stole ₦180 million from his NGO’s account after breaching its website. Speaking in a video posted on his Instagram page, the activist, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, expressed deep frustration and detailed the steps he is taking to resolve the situation.
VeryDarkMan explained that the police quickly launched an investigation after the incident. They arrested one of the suspects in Jos, Plateau State. To assist in recovering the stolen money, he is currently traveling to Jos with a police officer. He said, “I’ve not been myself these past few days. Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested. The account is now on PND (Post No Debit). There’s ₦20 million left, while ₦160 million was diverted.”
To prevent further breaches, VeryDarkMan immediately shut down the NGO’s app for maintenance. He also assured his followers that he would share updates on the recovery process as more details emerge.
The Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, which he launched on October 14, 2024, supports vulnerable communities. Within 24 hours of its launch, the initiative raised over ₦33 million in donations. Furthermore, renowned music executive Don Jazzy boosted the cause by contributing ₦100 million, increasing its impact significantly.
This shocking cyberattack has sparked widespread discussions about cybersecurity. Many believe that NGOs must adopt stronger digital defenses to prevent such breaches. Supporters of VeryDarkMan remain optimistic, trusting that he will recover the stolen funds and hold the culprits accountable.
As the investigation continues, VeryDarkMan has promised to keep his followers informed. This incident not only highlights the dangers of cybercrime but also underscores the importance of securing digital platforms for charitable organizations.
